This Privacy Policy explains how WaGroupContacts ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the WaGroupContacts browser extension and website (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. What the extension does
WaGroupContacts helps you export the member list of WhatsApp groups you are a member of into files (CSV, Excel, JSON) and, in the future, into your own Google Contacts or Google Sheets. It runs only on web.whatsapp.com and only reads the member information that WhatsApp already displays to you.
2. Information we process
- Captured contact data — for group members you capture: name/pushname, phone number (where WhatsApp exposes it), "about"/status text, group name, and profile photo URL. You choose which groups to capture.
- Account & licensing data — a random install identifier generated on your device, and, if you purchase a plan, your license key and the email associated with your purchase.
- Support data — any message and optional email you send us through the in-app feedback form.
- Technical data — basic request metadata (such as IP address) used for security and rate limiting.
3. How we use it
- To provide the core features: storing your captures so we can build your exports and (later) sync them where you ask.
- To operate licensing and enforce plan limits.
- To secure the Service (rate limiting, abuse prevention) and to respond to your support requests.
We do not sell your data or the contact data you capture, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Where data is stored
Captured contacts and licensing data are stored on our servers so the Service can function across sessions. The extension itself keeps only small settings and your license state in your browser's local storage. Profile photos are fetched on demand at export/sync time and are not permanently stored with your contacts.
5. Sharing & third parties
- Hosting/infrastructure providers that run our servers on our behalf.
- Google — only if and when you choose to use Google Contacts or Google Sheets sync, the relevant contact data is sent to Google's APIs using the access you grant. That data is handled per Google's terms.
- Payment provider — when you purchase a plan, your payment is processed by a third-party processor; we receive your license and purchase email, not your full card details.
- Legal — where required by law or to protect the Service and its users.
6. Retention & deletion
You can delete your captured contacts and projects at any time from within the extension ("Reset" actions), which removes them from our servers. Licensing records are kept as needed to operate your subscription and meet legal obligations. To request full deletion, contact us at the address below.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for using WaGroupContacts lawfully: only capturing groups you belong to, respecting the privacy of the people whose information you export, honoring WhatsApp's Terms of Service, and complying with any data-protection laws that apply to you (for example, having a lawful basis to process others' contact details).
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
